Five People Charged with $600,000 Insurance Fraud Scam

Tyler Wilkinson, 37 of San Diego and Ian Frisch 31, of Bonita are charged with four counts of grand theft with sentencing enhancements for causing loss over $500,000. In addition to these two men, Reuben Banuelos, of Aliso Viejo, Edward Putnam and Maxine Putnam of San Diego were also charged.

Orange County District Attorney's Office alleges between August 2, 2010 and November 15, 2010 Wilkinson and French submitted falsified insurance policy applications on behalf o Banuelos and the Putnams, who are accused of knowing about the fraud and making false statements on the applications. Once the applications were submitted, Wilkinson and Frisch are accused of offering Banuelos and Putnams no out-of-pocket loss by requiring them to pay a first time premium and then getting them fully reimbursed.

If convicted, the group faces up to 12 years in state prison.
