Irvine Valley Student Arrested for Sex Crime

Alireza Hashemi, an Irvine Valley student was arrested for what authorities say was a sexual assault of a woman in the school parking lot. Hashemi was taken into custody without incident.

According to Irvine Police officials, Hashemi had been contacted previously at the school for suspicious behavior and touching female students. On this occasion, an women told officers she was speaking to Hashemi when he forced her into the back seat of his vehicle. The woman was able to escape and contact police.

If convicted of a sexual assault, Hashemi faces state prison and sex offender registration. Hashemi could also face attempt kidnap and false imprisonment charges.
