Edward McLaughlin, a Newport Beach resident was arrested on Friday after allegedly hitting a 10-year-old girl crossing the street near her Buena Park home. The incident happened at 6:45 p.m. on Friday and the child was taken to UCI Medical Center where she is in serious condition.

McLaughlin was arrested at the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He has since posted bond.
