Ashley Connor Young, 24 was sentenced by Judge Ingrid A. Uhler in Fontana Superior Court to 6 years in state prison for the death of Leyna Basua. On October 11, 2009, Young was driving an Audi at 1:30 a.m. on the 15 Freeway in Fontana when she struck Basua's vehicle from behind forcing it off the freeway and into a tree. Basua died 9 months later due to complications related to the crash.

When law enforcement arrived on scene, Young had told officers that another woman was driving the vehicle but fled the scene after the driving under the influence accident. While there was another woman's drivers license in the vehicle, officers doubted her story and arrested Young for a DUI. When Basua died, the charges were amended to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Young had a blood-alcohol level of .13 an hour after the accident.
