Sex Offender Charged With Additional Crimes in Murder

A man accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a 29-year-old woman in a Stanton motel faces additional charges. Charles Patrick Drew, 62 was charged on Friday with rape of an unconscious person, sodomy of an unconscious person, oral copulation of an unconscious person, assault with a deadly weapon, sexual penetration by a foreign object of an unconscious person and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Drew was already charged with special circumstance murder, making eligible for the death penalty.

Drew, a transient with two prior sexual assault prior convictions is already a registered sex offender. Drew is being held without bail and his arraignment on the new charges was continued to August 16, 2012.
