Skylar Deleon, housed in Orange County Men's Central Jail awaiting trial for the murder of Jackie and Thomas Hawk tried to cut off his penis according to Orange County Sheriff spokesperson Damon Micalizzi. Deleon, “somehow got ahold of a razor blade and tried to saw off his penis, but didn't complete the job,” says Micalizzi.

It is still unclear how Deleon got the razor, since inmates are provided razors for shaving but those razors are modified to prevent the removing of blades. What also remains unclear is why Deleon would commit such a stunt and what prevented him from completing the act.

Deleon, first came to the publics attention when he was arrested for the murder of the Hawks' off the coast of Newport Beach. Prosecutors say Deleon and others forced the Hawks to sign transfer of ownership and power of attorney documents, then forced them overboard. They are presumed to have been thrown over alive and drowned in the water. Their bodies have not been found Jennifer Deleon, Skylar's wife was convicted in Orange County Superior Court of the same charges as her husband. She is currently serving consecutive life sentences.
